Shamanic Journey Series – 6: Return & Integration

Return

You’ll know when the journey is complete and when it’s time to return. If you’re listening to a drumming track, most likely the beat will pause and then shift. If you’re drumming for yourself or if the experience doesn’t take the full length of your drumming track, you’ll sense from your helping spirits that it’s time to go.

Always, always thank your helping spirits. You might even ask how you can honor and thank them back in ordinary reality when you return.

Retrace your steps exactly as you came, returning fully to your body. Take your time. Wiggle your fingers and toes, take a deep breath, and when you feel ready, gently open your eyes.

Integration

Integration is a critical part of the journey experience. Don’t skip it! When you are fully back in your body, take as long as you need to review the journey.

Writing down everything you can remember about the experience is incredibly helpful. As you do, details may surface that you might have forgotten if you had simply moved on. Hold your heart and mind open, pondering, reflecting, and writing down whatever shows up for you.

This is where the journey begins to make more sense; where you can bring the insights, healing or information you received from the realm of Spirit into your ordinary reality. You are integrating the energy and information from the journey into your everyday life where it can now influence and shape your physical experience.

Additional Journey Resources

This has been a very brief and simple overview of Shamanic Journeying. If you would like to explore this practice further, I highly recommend taking a workshop and/or reading more on this fascinating topic.

One of the best books for beginners – the one that my shamanic teachers recommended to me years ago, and the one I always suggest to those new to journeying is Sandra Ingerman’s Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner’s Guide. It’s an excellent resource for anyone looking to deepen their practice.

Anyone can journey! All it takes is a bit of practice and an open heart and mind. May your journeys be deep, powerful, and filled with the healing, guidance and wisdom that is always available to us.

If you ever have any questions, or want to share a journey with me please feel free to reach out. I’d love to hear from you and I’m happy to help however I can! If you’d like to work with me, you can book a session.
