Called by Spirit: The Heart Behind Ikaro Healing Arts

A Journey Guided by Spirit

Whether you call it “energy work” or “shamanic healing”, the work I do is all about listening — listening to the gentle whispers of the spirits, to the wisdom that flows through all things, and to the stories your soul carries.

Since 2019, I’ve studied and worked with shamans, learning how to create a sacred container for healing and to connect with Spirit. But my greatest teachers have always been the spirits themselves. My role is simply to listen and follow.

My Path to Healing Work

I’ve felt Spirit’s call since childhood. As a teenager, I was captivated by the healing power of plants. On library trips with my mother, I’d check out as many books on herbal medicine as they’d allow, then spend hours absorbing every word.

The forest became my classroom. I’d harvest ginseng, goldenseal, and other healing plants, learning their uses and gifts. My father gave me a corner of our family garden to grow medicinal and culinary herbs. Nothing brought me more joy than working with these plants—learning their voices, their medicine.

By 16, I was blending medicinal plants into teas and capsules, crafting remedies from a mix of book knowledge, wisdom passed down by elders, and my own intuition. I didn’t have a name for it then—I just knew I wanted to help people heal.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve experienced spirits and supernatural phenomena—clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. I didn’t try to develop these abilities; they were simply there, showing up spontaneously. But I had no framework for them. While my Christian upbringing gave me many gifts, it didn’t offer answers that resonated with me to help me understand what I was experiencing.

As a young adult, I became a Christian minister in the Charismatic movement. Unlike my traditional, evangelical upbringing, Charismatic teachings offered some language for my experiences rather than dismissing them. But I struggled with the doctrine and dogma, often wondering why we couldn’t simply love people as they were—why there was so much fear, and why we felt the need to change them.

At 29, I stopped trying to change something about myself that wasn’t meant to change. I had known I was gay for years but had been taught it was wrong, so I tried everything—prayer, pretending, even seeking “help” from the church to “cure” me. Nothing changed. Over time, I realized there was nothing wrong with me. The real harm was in trying to deny who I was.

So, I came out. The rejection that followed—from my family, from the ministry—pushed me to step away from my faith. That season became what I call my “drying out time,” a several-years-long period where I tried hard to believe in nothing.

But Spirit never left. Even as I tried to shut down my belief in anything beyond the physical, I continued having unexplainable non-physical encounters. Eventually, after some incredibly profound and undeniable experiences, I stopped resisting. Instead of clinging to certainty, I embraced not knowing. That surrender became one of the most valuable lessons of my life—the ability to hold mystery without needing to define it.

In that space, Spirit gently guided me towards a Shamanic path in my late 30s. For the first time, I felt fully at home. On this path, I have found — and continue to find — deep, lasting healing for myself and for those I am called to serve. And I don’t have to change anyone’s beliefs to do it!

My Approach

For me, life is about experiencing and learning. I honor your sacred path and respect your unique perspective, belief system, and the story that you are writing that is your life. I am here to support you on your journey.

Whenever I do a session, or any kind of shamanic work, I always seek guidance from the spirits and simply do what they say, in a way that honors them, the people I’m working with, and myself. I never know beforehand what will unfold. I leap in faith and the spirits show up and guide our work together.
